Eleanor Matthews

I am a southwest girlie with a love for graphic design - anything from brand identity to illustration and everything in between but, as I am an avid reader I am specifically passionate about book cover design and how a cover has the ability to capture a reader's attention. I graduated from Birmingham City University in 2023 with an Honours Degree in Graphic Communication.

Over the last 3 years alongside my uni studies, I have worked at The Body Shop as a part-time Team Leader. During my time there I have learnt a lot about marketing through display and product design.

The red brick hotel

This live brief for the Conran Design group was to pick from one of the options of buildings that were provided and create a brand identity concept for a new hotel brand.

From the buildings that were provided, I decided to pick the tobacco factory in central Bristol. and I wanted to create a contemporary modern concept of a hotel out of an old factory.

This live competition brief for Bulletproof was to create a concept brand based on some 1980s song lyrics that were given by a game made by the company (bulletproof).

For this project, I received the song lyrics from the song Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys.

By doing some research into the song and finding out what their intention was for that song, I decided to come up with a cosy coffee shop/book shop where readers have a place to feel at home away from home.

Creating collages and illustrations is another hobby of mine that I enjoy doing in my spare time. I often base my illustrations on images that I discover online.
